no. it’s not about my love-hate r/s with my mods.

i suppose there’s no more of such things (unless i decide to take masters in the future?). but yea, i feel uni life has given quite a lot in terns of intellectual development. like after 12 years of struggling through school doing my 10 years series, past year exam papers, i kinda forgot why i love studying (apart from Lit in Sec School & Chinese; i really enjoyed the lessons).

that’s when uni came along. that’s how i realized that learning can also be an enlightening process (even ur grade’s a C+ yea thanks to those mods). that u may not necessarily LOVE the mod but u gain alot of knowledge from it. u gain a perspective of how people view certain things. so altho it’s quite a drag having to bid for modules (why don’t dey jus allocate them to me), i’m kinda glad we get to at least to an extent step out of our majors and minors and take modules totally unrelated in order to know something more.

i’ve taken quite a number of strange mods hahaha. there’s understanding how the internet works…hahahaa that module was quite a success for me. the theoretical was really technical and dry (about the technical aspects about the Internet) so it was kinda a sense of accomplishment that i got like a B for that test ahahs. and the business project was easy-going. ohhh and aesthetics of new media, another seriously strange mod. but yea, i got in touch with my aesthetic self haha. there’s sg films too. learnt a bit here and there about cinematography and even produced a film (so in NUS, i picked up basic video-editing skills too which came to use for other projects). MNO was an enjoyable mod where we learn a lot of practical stuff impractically. Japanese Religion, i wish i could die in that class but when i tried not to doze off, i become more cultured. Now i know the different historical periods better than Singapore’s. Animal Behaviour was a seriously fun mod for me. I just feel that what goes in nature is really astonishing.

So actually everything seemed wonderful if i don’t keep thinking about my grades and base my ability to grasp these modules solely on my final grade. In fact, I feel in terms of development wise, I have been an A / A-. it’s considered a feat doing smth/ learning smth which u’ve never come to notice/ appreciate before. This sense of awareness is something that everyone gets to take home regardless of what our grades are. I mean if any point in time if you tried paying attention to the module, you’ve made it!

If we’re to judge our modules based on how much we’ve learned/ gained awareness/ gained enlightenment from, how many of us can confidently say that those final A grades are true reflection of our own intellectual development? Perhaps those B- to C grades have taught you a lot more than A grades alone.
