had a bad day but a great ending.
my first week was a disaster, in my opinion. i felt like i made the most number of mistakes (big and small) in my life. at the same time, i find things getting more and more interesting which is a good thing really to cultivate some kind of curiosity that stirs your interest rather than knowing everything abt it and using the same procedures.
it’s also in this week i come to realize how uber slow my brain processes and sorts out info and categorize them and links them and retrieves them. perhaps i hadn’t been used to a dynamic environment. there’re many reasons and excuses but i noe somehow i have to find ways to wriggle out of them and consolidate my thoughts together.so right now, it seems like i noe everything but dey’re everywhere and i need to gather them back and strap them in neat places. yes the word is strap/ buckle/ fasten/ trap; the idea of not letting it slip away.
i spent a good fri nite out tho. It’s a one of a kind boss i see @ Creation Cafe. He has morals. A businessman having such form of morals are quite rare and thus, unique. He told a foreign customer who wanted to order a coffee away. instead, the boss commented that his coffee ain’t good and he recommended Starbucks which was slightly further down. o.O for me.
The service @ the restaurant could be horribly bad or good, depending on which side you take. As a consumer, it’s bad service. As a bystander/person out of picture, it’s meaningful customer service. Half of the time, we couldn’t leave early because we waited very long for our starters. It’s not simply that there’s too many people/ short-handed BUT if everyone’s not present @ the table, food won’t be served even if it can be made ready. like huh?! As a consumer, I get cross because I’m hungry and I really waited long (insert inside joke abt my rxn lols that’s when Nadya started on her laughing streak.)As a bystander, according to Anita, it’s the idea of everyone sitting together and having their meal together. Moral value @ stake here. And of course, we’re consumers there, but the service is SO bad that i dun feel pissed about it LOL. becos there’s no GST and Service Charge. and the prices are not ex too. I paid like $12.90 for a soup+garlic bread, coke and beef lasagne.
If seen from a business point of view, this cafe is in ruins. Turning away potential customers, allowing people to wait @ tables (when the place’s so small), confused staff who don’t speak proper English. at the same time, these bad points are seen as redeemable when we’re not too focused on costs and profits but on people.
going on to more horrible—> turn out great stuff. we of all days chose to sit @ a pub when USA is playing against Slovania LOL. I missed my both Koreas matches and here we are watching a match that not many are even interested to turn on the TV. But it was great stuff, chilling out with a beer and soaking up the atmosphere @ CHIJMES. we’re almost like the only Singaporeans around. So there’re even people wearing wigs and prancing around in the Germany flag lols. And we played drinking games during half-time with an Israeli guy joining in lols.
let’s go for chili crab!!
